Unique paper work by Anne Marie Ploug
Manko
In her Manko works, Anne Marie Ploug works with many different techniques, where, for example, the paper functions both as a base for the woodcut's many traces and prints, and as a sculptural form, as it is cut up, folded or twisted around. The half circle becomes a full, oblong circle when the paper is tilted up and the resemblance to the female genital organ is clear – hence the title Manko, which in Japanese is a slang term for cunt (the female genital organ).
